Mrs. Dayna Walker is a native of Murfreesboro, TN
where she was a 1993 honors graduate of Oakland High School.While
at Oakland, she was captain of the color guard and clarinet
section leader. Mrs. Walker attended Middle Tennessee State
University for two years before transferring to
UT-Knoxville. While at MTSU, she was a member of the Band
of Blue, wind ensemble, and clarinet choir. At UT, Mrs.
Walker was a member of the Pride of the Southland Band, symphonic
band, pep band, and clarinet choir. In 1996, she was
clarinet section leader in the marching band. Mrs. Walker
completed her student teaching at Lenoir City Middle and High
School. She graduated summa cum laude from UT in December
1997. Mrs. Walker was the band director at Central High
School in Wartburg, TN for two years before her and her husband
moved to Knoxville. At Central, she was director of bands
grades 5-12, and directed the high school show choir and
choir. Mrs. Walker currently teaches fifth grade band at
Seymour Intermediate, fifth through eighth grade band at
Wearwood Elementary, assists the fifth grade band at Pigeon Forge
Middle, and is the assistant band director at Seymour High
School. She will be completing her master's degree in
Instructional Leadership in December 2000 and plans to continue
her education towards an Ed.S.
Mrs. Walker married her husband, Josh, in June 1999.Josh is currently a law student at UT-Knoxville and is the second trombone player in the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. They have three "children," two cats, Persikitty and Slide, and one dog, Molly.
