Rhett Butler is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he obtained a B. M. degree in Music Education. He is a former member and section leader of the University of Tennessee 'Pride of the Southland' Marching Band during the tenure of Dr. Gary Sousa. While in college, Mr. Butler also performed with a variety of other ensembles including the UT Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Marimba Choir, Steel Drum Band, Indoor Percussion and Studio Orchestra. He has studied with Michael Combs, Keith Brown, Robert Adamcik, Troy Breaux, and Mark Douglass. Mr. Butler has spent the last 9 years as the Percussion Caption Head at Karns High School. During those years, he developed an award-winning percussion program. His Indoor Percussion Ensemble is a two time WGI finalist, 2006 and 2008. Mr. Butler?s professional affiliations include: MENC, TMEA, PAS and ETSB&OA.
